You know what pisses me off?
Iran. They are going to build a nuke and use it on us! If I'm standing toe to toe with a bully and he makes one move and looks like he is going to throw a punch, I'm gona hit him first! Don't stand there and let him smash our face first. We did that with Bin Ladden. 9/11 was a smash to the face. Never again. I say we hit them now! Hit them hard! Destroy any military equipment we can, and destroy the reactors. NOW!!!!!!!!!

You know what pisses me off? Incompetent politicians who act all big and brave threatening nuclear attacks. Don't they realize that this will start a nuclear arms race....in the heart of Islamist hatred??
WTF, man?
Iran must be dealt with, but I'm praying it won't be till after 08. Fresh blood, man. That's what we need.

ITS REALLY EASY TO SIT IN A COMFORTABLE CHAIR THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY FROM ANY HOSTILE ACTION AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE POWERS THAT BE. WHAT ABOUT THE MEN AND WOMEN IN THE REGION RISKING THIER LIVES FOR OUR NATION? WE HAVE TROOPS ON BOTH SIDES OF IRAN AND THEY ARE IN A REAL DANGER DUE TO THE SABRE RATTLING COMING FROM TEHRAN. THERE IS NO ARMS RACE....WE ARE AT THE FINISH LINE WHILE TEHRAN IS TRYING TO GET A STARTING BLOCK. THE NUCLEAR STRATEGY REMAINS A LAST-RESORT OPTION AS IT HAS FOR DECADES. WE NEED STRONG LEADERSHIP NOW MORE THAN EVER, NOT THESE LIMP-WRISTED BLEEDING HEARTS IN WASHINGTON AND ELSEWHERE CRITICIZING OUR LEADERSHIP JUST TO CRY ABOUT SOMETHING...

Okay....a few things.
1) The men and women are really risking their lives in Iraq in some kind of grand nation-building experiment, not to protect the security of the United States. (Our allies and business interests, maybe...but certainly not "our nation.")
2) You pointed out that Iran, one of America's traditional enemies, is in effect circled by American troops lead by a bellicose president who isn't afraid to shoot first and ask questions later. It's hard to believe their sable-rattling isn't in some way a response to what they perceive as a threat from Washington. After the invasion of Iraq, the Iranians know that they're next. It's only logical that they would take steps to protect themselves. We must acknowledge that, even if it rests uneasily in our guts.
3) The "strong" leadership in Washington, to be quite honest, isn't very good at war-fighting. So if there is to be war with Iran, which may become neccesary, they would not be able to handle it. Are we to believe that the third time is the charm?
What we need is REAL leadership, not the posings of chickenhawks, leadership aware of not only the tactical effects of nukes, but the psychological and diplomatic effects, leadership that is willing to entertain, if only for a minute, the idea of solving problems without military force. Because let's face it. Not every problem has a military solution.
And if Hillary's on the 08 ticket....I'm voting for the other guy.
Here's my 08 slogan. "FRESH BLOOD. NO BUSHES, NO CLINTONS."

Okay good points James but, they are full of holes. By building a new nation in Iraq it will help us in the long run. Both with our security and the fact that if we take care of it now we won't have to go back later and do it again. Iran started this shit back in the 70's when they took our embassy and held our people hostage. Jimmy Carter tried to talk to them, no luck. Ronald Regan said that when he took office we were gona kick the shit of Iran. They released the hostages the day he took office THE SAME DAY!!! There is only one thing they understand, and that is a good swift kick to the head. Diplomatic options don't work.
As far as a war with Iran, yeah we could do it and yeah we could make it work too. We have a lot more to give. Iran is next! I agree not every problem has a military solution, with Iran it is the only solution. Iraq said they did not have WMD anymore and that was the truth. Well half truth, he did have a shit load of gas and chemical weapons. He did not destroy them or we would have found proof of it. So the WMD are now some place else!!! Iran does have WMD and they are pounding their chest and bragging about it. No question there. They will get a nuke and they will use it. Sorry but you are going down Iran. I want them taken care of now, so my kids will not have to face them in 2o years.
As far as the next election let's just elect another soft ass bitch just like Bill Clinton so he can weaken our country even further. Man I'm sick of this shit. I want the next president to be such a hard ass bastard that nothing will get past him. He will build a 100' wall on the boarders. He will start making people pay their fair share of taxes. He will make every illegal in this country legal, tax paying, law obeying members of society or kick them the hell out of here. He will not tolerate any shit from any other country, and if they want to fight WE FIGHT!!
I know this is extreme, but we have tried the soft touch approach before and it does us no good.

I agree with James' point that Iran may feel a little nervous with so many of our troops around. I also agree with their right to defend themselves. Thats about all I agree with you on... I would like to remind you that our "experiment" is going very well. We as a nation have toppled 2 dangerous regimes in record time and with relatively low casualties on both sides.
The US armed forces have lost more troops to accidents and suicide among other things than they have lost in combat. I dont think that this is insignificant...
It goes to show that someone is doing something right.
Why would Iran fear that "they are next"? Turkey's not afraid, Syria's not afraid, the UAE is not afraid. Are our troops not in thier back yard as well? The reason that Iran is afraid is that they are a HOSTILE nation with HOSTILE intentions. They should be afraid. They should be VERY AFRAID.
As far as this administration shooting first and asking questions later...come on. Let me remind you about North Korea. Condi said over and over "We are commited to a diplomatic solution" which is what she is saying about Iran.
We cant go around picking fights all over the world, but we can and SHOULD get involved in situations where irresponsible leaders in anti-American countries start a military build-up. Its a responsible approach to American security and our interests abroad. To do nothing would be neglecting the duties of our administration.
I dont want to see the US get into another war, but if it comes to that I will support the effort fully.
I am an American that loves being an American. There are far too many Americans that do not love their country. They should move to France, wear berets, fly white flags, and hate America from afar.

I never said they don't have the right to defend their country. But hey if you and I are going to fight and I know we are, I see you going to pick up a baseball bat to "defend yourself". Am I going to stand there and let you? HELL NO! I'm gona beat your ass long before you get that bat for "defense". It's the same thing Iran get's a nuke they WILL use it the day they get it. On us or Israel. We can't let this happen.

Perhaps you should read up a bit on:
Operation Eagle Claw
Algiers Accords
I only mention it because your simplified view of the roles of Carter/Regan aren't particularly historically accurate.
Also:
"If I'm standing toe to toe with a bully and he makes one move and looks like he is going to throw a punch, I'm gona hit him first! Don't stand there and let him smash our face first."
I think Iran is probably saying the exact same thing about us...

You want to look at it that way that's fine. The fight is on, and in this fight I only see our side of it. I don't care about Iran, I care about my land, the USA. I look at it from the warrior side of things, kill or be killed. I don't know about you, but we need to watch our six here.
Yeah I know Carter tried a rescue mission and it failed, and that was a sad thing. Truth be told Carter sent in the new Delta Force and tied both of their hands behind their back first.

Not to belabor a point, but Jason, you're only half-right when you say "our "experiment" is going very well. We as a nation have toppled 2 dangerous regimes in record time and with relatively low casualties on both sides."
In Afghanistan, you're right, we removed the Taliban from power (well, from what passes for power in Afghanistan anyway) and installed a government, later reinforced by elections, more friendly to the US. But, I have to remind you, Osama Bin Laden escaped (that goes in the "failure" category), the Afghan heroin trade is flourishing (again, a failure), Taliban warlords still have de facto control of many rural areas (oops, another failure), and if a huge international outcry hadn't prevented it, the Afghan government would have executed a man merely for converting to Christianity. (As it stands, he was just exiled to Italy.)
In Iraq, there is a civil war, Sunni versus Shiite versus the American occupiers. Bombs go off every day, killing scores of people every week. Western journalists can't venture out of the Green Zone for fear of being kidnapped or beheaded. Militas and death squads roam the lawless streets, killing on a whim. Electric power and potable water in the cities are less than pre-war levels. These things are not what I would call "success."
I think you're framing the "success" question too narrowly, focusing merely on the military angle. Yes, the Taliban were routed by the Special Forces-led Northern Alliance. Yes, Saddam Hussein's government fell in three weeks and his army, at least the part that wasn't destroyed, disappeared like a fog in morning. There's no question that militarily, in terms of kicking ass and taking names, Afghanistan and Iraq were "successes."
But wars are larger than the sum of their battles. Our war aims, of which the removal of enemy governments is only one, have not yet been accomplished. Osama Bin Laden is still a fugitive. Iraq, far from being a shining light of Middle Eastern democracy, is a war-torn no man's land with a barely functioning government overseen by foreign occupiers.
A lot of this has to do with a failure of policy, rather than military failure. As usual, it's the politicians in Washington, rather than the fighting man in uniform, that fucks everything up.
What assurances do I have that Iran will be any different?

First & foremost let us clarify one thing. Contrary to the politically correct pablum puked up by President Bush on a regular basis, Islam is not a religion of peace. It is at best a totalitarian system of discrimination & subjugation; at worst a death cult of 14th century heathen savages who worship their god by murdering those who do not share their beliefs. The religious rulers & current president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are fervent advocates of the latter solution,
plainly calling for the destruction of the Crusaders & the Zionists. We should take them at their word, for these Islamofacists revel in the death that a nuclear attack would bring. But fear not, Uncle Sam will not have to intervene if the mad mullahs go nuclear, as Israel will attack & destroy the Iranian facilities just as they did in 1981 with a raid on Saddam's Iraqi reactor at Osirak. Ahmadinejad would best be advised to start stocking up on SPF2000.
